Hi

I am considering purchasing a Spyderco Military and am very tempted by the black blade version.
Could anyone tell me how durable the black coating is that Spyderco uses or would I be better going for the plain metal version? Thanks:)

if you like the look of the coated blade go for it.

dlc coating is tougher than nails, the knife is two years old and has been my dedicated "stupid uses knife", it looks brand new. just lighter colored. but i'm pretty sure that a good coat with wd40 will make it like new again. it's nothing like regular black coating.

The Spyderco blade coating pretty durable, but over time it will wear. I think the wear gives it character.

The Spydie coating is waaaay more durable than Cold Steel's version, which comes off after one hard use.
