Black Coated Trailmaster

O.K. can anyone tell me why CS only offers their Trailmaster with the black epoxy coating if it's a Factory Second? Heck if I was thinking of buying one I'd have to get the Factory Second version...or make sure I had a bottle of Rustfree with me in my survival kit.

To hide imperfections?? The bigger the blade, the more surface to show.

Exdellent question, probably the correct answer. My carbon V is an incredible knife with one huge problem, it will rust before you can sheath it. I actually asked C.S. about coating it a couple of years ago and I never did get a good answer why not. How is the San Mai III version?
