Black Forest Trail, PA

Wow, I didn't think the rattlers would draw so much interest. Here's a video of my favorite encounter. I had to go off trail a little to stay out of striking distance and the noise that made threw him into full alert. The video says it better. Picture quality is off, but all I had was a pocket digital camera, it was in a deep dark hollow, and I was trying to walk at the same time.

Watch as he pulls his tail under his body. I'm no expert, but it seems to me he was getting in a better strike position. I didn't notice this until I watched the video at home.

Enjoy.

I'm not really sure of the cheapest place. I can say moontrail.com is a good place for backpacking stuff. They offer free shipping and bonus points you can exchange for free goodies. I've experienced quick shipping and no questions returns.

I have always wanted to check that area out too. Hiked all thru the ANF and Laurel Highlands, someday I have to make the trip over there to see our (PA) "grand canyon".
