Black guard

I am just starting in knife making. I bought a carbon blade and want to buy a guard for it that I can make black by parkerizing or something similiar. I only am able to find brass or stainless steel guards for sale. Any ideas?

The black ones are made from mild steel and gun blued. You may have to make one yourself. Basic tools would be a drill, file and vice. Not too hard to do.
