Hi, It's been quite a while since I've been able to work in the shop but finally got this one finished.....maybe :)

Just sent some pics. to the customer and haven't heard back yet so I'm not sure if he's going to like this package, if you'd care to share your opinions that would be very helpful and appreciated.

The reason there's 2 sheaths..... I made the first one, the carved sheath, and wasn't sure if I liked it so decided to make a basic pouch sheath also.

6" 1095 blade
Blued mild steel guard with black, brass and copper spacers......peened copper pin and thong tube
Black Ironwood burl handle
11" o.a.l.

Thanks,
Dave

Thanks to Mike (fitzo) for the help with etching my makers mark, Patricia @ IMG (Great to deal with) sent me 2, I'll use the other one most of the time, D. KELLY

The last bright photo shows the hardening line

How could you not be sure you liked the carved sheath! I love it.
Beautiful work.

Shawn

That is a beauty,if your customer doesn't like that,-Love the carved sheath too, excellent work:thumbup:-Regards Butch

Shawn, I usually end up with at least 2 of something for a knife I made....last time I made 4 blades for 1 knife, now I look at the other blades and can't figure out what I didn't like about them :)

Very Good! Love the shape it's like a recurve puma hunters pal and one of those canadian willow leaf blade knives had a kid! I really like the way it flows

It was pretty neat when I got to that last foto and find out not only the hardening line but the wood light up, too! The knife is a beauty, the leatherwork sumptuous, and I dig that mark. I hope nothing in those "instructions" steered you wrong with the marking.

Dave you sure make nice knives! That's fantastic. Your blade has a "Sasquatch" kind of move that I really like. I'm sure that was a breeze to grind, eh? Thanks for the inspiration!

WOW! Really love the knife! Great flow! Great choice of materials, I'm leaning toward the plainer sheath myself. The other sheath is amazing:eek: but I kinda like the plain one with this kife....
Great job!

Very nice work Dave ! Love that blade shape !! You obviously made 2 sheaths. Did you also finish the knife in 2 different ways to see which you liked better ? Or did you just take pics prior to etching to show hamon ? The reason I ask is that, although the first pics do indeed make the wood appear darker, the last "lighter", "etched" pic shows the spacers as etched or "darker", while the wood appears lighter.

Whatever you did Dave ? >............I like it    ;) Both ways :)

Your instructions were perfect Mike, I had to experiment finding the correct formula for this steel but after that it went very smooth.

Dave, I enjoyed doing this grind, it reminded me of when I made folders. I really miss making them, it's been about 3 years so this grind was a lot of fun to do.

David, I didn't like the peen marks on the copper pin so I took those out and I decided to let the copper age naturally instead so I removed the bluing.

Thanks again!!

Dave

Very Very Nice Dave, I knew when I seen your post it would be a beautiful knife but you took my breath away with that leather work, fantastic for sure.

Bill

Really like this knife Dave, I think there's probably a lot more to it in person, judging from the last photo showing much detail. Mike told me he really liked your knives, I understand why.

Thanks you guys!

Bill, I don't think I ever said congratulations on the J.S., so.....Congratulations!

Dave
