Black lines near grind help.

https://m.imgur.com/CaHT6K0

Hey guys first post just wandering what these lines are on my 440c stainless steel Ka-Bar EK Dagger cheers!

The lines on the grind? Those are the only lines I can see and they don't appear black, and those seem to just be normal manufacturing marks from grinding the blade. Most Ka-bars have those lines under the black coatings but since yours is un-coated you can probably see them better.

Don’t apologise, it was a fair question. :) What do you think of the knife?
It’s really great, I live in Australia so it’s near impossible to get a genuine EK, Ka-Bar did a great job on the model 13 though. My next purshase will be a Spartan Gerorge v-14 dagger, I’m taking a break from Taiwan made knives at the moment not knocking them but the USA really knows how to make great knives!

Yes, they certainly do. I’m in the UK and have a great fondness for knives made in the USA. Glad you are enjoying it! Now, how about a picture... Oh, and don’t mention The Ashes

If you want a nice dagger, take a look at the Busse V8. They haven't dropped yet, but once they do folks will have them on the exchange.

You can also try to get on the second chance/cancellations list if yu want one from Busse direct. I do believe they ship down under.

I don't know if you want to step up to this amount of coin yet, but if you do, it will outlive you. If you do manage to kill it, Busse will replace/repair free of charge, no questions asked...

That is a beautiful dagger and I have heard of Busse and the great reputation they have unfortunately you need a special import license to import double edged knives into Australia so until I get one I can only purchase what our vendors have to offer but I’m on my way to getting a license and I keep eyeing that busse!

I am curious how it would work if you buy one second hand, and prior to shipment, the seller knocks the second edge down. This way you just have to resharpen the one side.

It wouldn't take much for the seller to do this, just some passes down a sanding block with 400 grit sandpaper attached.

That’s a good idea though my friend used to work with customs and once they would not let a Ka-Bar 1271 Fighter model in and that is a single edged blade! It’s a bit ridiculous our knife laws unfortunately.

Yeah the dark line that runs parallel to the edge, I just got paranoid because someone mentioned it could be a ‘grind burn and that is a sign of poor heat treatment’ . But what you say makes sense.
