Black Palm Wood or Giraffe?

I asked Joe H. All the giraffe bone is dyed before they get it. Comes that way. They don't do a poor job dying it. Pick of the litter I suppose.it's all different. And the 110 posted first is a good looking knife. I would get the bone. Cant the wait to see more.

I see your point. Maybe Buck has just done a poor job with dying the bone.

I haven't seen any giraffe on Buck knives that looked good. I Googled it and found some that looks really good. Much better than the sort of pinkish 110 shown earlier in this thread. Like this:

Notice how the stark white has turned to a nice off white or tan and much of it is an attractive dark red hue.

I must admit that this (as well as some others that show up) are very appealing.

Well, it seems Buck has (at least in the giraffe I've seen) done a poor job of choosing the already dyed bone.

They can specify what they want it to look like when they order it. I'm sure they don't just say, "Send us some dyed giraffe bone" and take whatever shows up, plug-ugly or beautiful.

Maybe your new thread on giraffe bone examples will reveal some good looking Buck giraffe scales, but all I've ever seen seem to look a lot like the too-white and too-pink 110 already shown in this thread. Nothing like the pretty fixed blade I posted above.

That knife your referring to is a handmade Adam Michael custom for 535.00.
I would say the scales had better be hand picked at that price. All the images I brought up when Googled are all over the place as far as how they look. They are all very nice. In all the colors. The 110 posted was just as gorgeous due to no two are the same.

I like the Giraffe bone on Redgoatee's 110 and think Buck did a good job with it. We all have opinions, there is mine.

The best option is to have Leroy make your knife with hand picked bone that you approve of. .You will not only know exactly what you are getting but will have a true 1 of 1 custom.
