Black Paper vs. Black Canvas .... Whats your favorite? And most importantly why?
 
I love the look of black paper for Safe Queens. For users, Black canvas. Both are great.

Agreed, Paper to look at and all others to use. Problem with paper is that it is more brittle than the others. But I have to say I think as far as a safe queens the paper is the best. The tightness of the material really makes it a beautiful grip.
 
Any fixed blade I own has canvas micarta for the handle scales. Reasons are; its pretty much indestructible, nice and grippy when wet, I think it looks good, and its easily modified to ones personal liking.

Basically to me canvas micarta is the greatest knife handle material ever made.
 
I like the look of black paper but the feel of black canvas... Therefore, I get black canvas and dye it black with leather dye. This gives me the best of both worlds!
 
Mty fav is black canvas. Paper is still very good on a hard user too, but canvas just feels a bit softer and more grippy.
 
I've never had paper micarta, but I have never really liked canvas micarta. It's nice and grippy, but it also absorbs liquids like a sponge, whether it be water, sweat. oil, blood, etc. That turns me off. Given a choice, G10 every time over both.
 
No favorite, but I like the grippy feel of micarta and also the ease at which my paper micarta MBC deploys from its snug-fitting kydex sheath.


ETA: one of my Swamp favorites is the RMD. Of those I have none in micarta, some in paper, one in giraffe bone and several in G10.

I was obviously speaking to canvas micarta just to clear that up before someone attempts to knock my nuggets for that.

J-- DO NOT tease me, you should know by now that I'd even take pink G10 on an "N2K RMD" if it meant one would exist.

Yep, not my first choice by a very large margin, but to get the RMD variant of epic conceptual design I'd be elated to own it even with a pink handle...would encourage me to keep it very dirty!

And to be clear (trying to keep it clean)...I am a fan of some things pink.
 
Canvas, all the way! Paper only looks nice for a time, after several washes it starts turning greyish. And it's not a grippy as canvas.
