Black Paper vs. Black Canvas .... Whats your favorite? And most importantly why?

Any fixed blade I own has canvas micarta for the handle scales. Reasons are; its pretty much indestructible, nice and grippy when wet, I think it looks good, and its easily modified to ones personal liking.

Basically to me canvas micarta is the greatest knife handle material ever made.

AGREED AGREED AGREED

I actually keep several slabs of 13" x 13" 3/8" thick black canvas and green canvas on hand so that I can replace the handle slabs on many knives that I purchase. I'm in the process right now of making some new handle slabs for an Al Mar SERE Operator. Micarta is a bitch to work with, but its so nice to have a custom contoured handle made out of nice grippy material. Also, you can leave canvas rough textured, or you can polish it up to a glossy finish if you want a real looker. Its very customizable.I'll take Canvas Micarta over ANYTHING, but I'd take Linen Micarta or G10 over Paper Micarta. Just not a fan.

I personally like black canvas for users and black paper for a fancier look. The canvas has a bit more "grippy" feel to it which makes it easier to hold onto when chopping and such. I like black paper, I just think that it's too pretty to use
