Black Raspberries!

interesting topic shoudl come up... i aws out trimming our hedges along the back of the garage the other day and noticed for the first time in the 8 years ive lived there, that the bush has berries on it!

they look like black raspberries / blackberries but i think they may be blackberries because they dont have that little hollowed out "cone" core in the middle when you pick them. the bush doesnt have thorns either....

does anyone know the actual difference between the two? I will try to get smoe pictures up very soon here. I would really like to know what they actually are!

Is the flavor kind of boring? Just sweet without much else? And when you pick them, does the little green stem come off with the berry? That would make them mulberries. Not my favorite for eating, but I've got five gallons of mulberry wine bubbling away in the kitchen as we speak....

thank you! just did a google search and that is exactly whats growing out there!

i love this house! we have 2 pear trees, one apple tree and now a mulberry bush! im going to go exploring the other bushes and shrubs tonight to see what other surprises might be there!

They are ripe in Georgia! Just came in from picking some with wife and kids. Blackberry Cobbler for Independence day!

:p

A bit more than two quarts there. I'll be out again tomorrow for another round.

Used a bunch today to make orange sherbert, peach, black raspberry smoothies for the kids, wife and I tonight.

Good looking berries...while some might say there are a few that aren't quite ripe enough I intentionally pick some because I like some extra tartness.

I forgot to take a picture of the ones I took during my "break" from putting a water line in at my camp. I'll see if I can get it next week. By then...there will be much, MUCH more.
