Black raven identification

Rick check your other post you made I commented how you can find out when people had reported the auction to ebay.
 
Thanks ; got several names and PayPal is on case . Axe came to post office and retuned per PayPal instructions. May end up playing ping pong with it until resolved.

Want to thank all for advice and information , seller has contacted me through pay pal and he wants to refund money . Process has started through eBay and pay pal to collect , hope he follows through . If he gets multiple complaints he can be removed as seller on eBay so I think he wants to continue to use eBay to continue to defraud people . I sent him just enough info to prove axe is fraud , the ridges in eye hole is sufficient, won’t let him know axe head was also incorrect for double bit and weight of head was on wrong side and embossing also showed flaws !cant wait to get money refunded , I would like to get a nice single bir raven , a little more educated now thanks to all of you ! Great people and great site !,,
 
I finally bit the bullet. Just had a customer sign a $24,000(8 of it is mine) roofing contract so i treated myself. I bought the Michigan pattern black raven on the original haft from Jim Bode. $495. Ouch. It's okay I'm happy to finally have one, all original and from a reputable seller. I'm pumped! Should be here in a week or so.
It stands to reason that people will try and fake these things. It really pisses me off though. A smart crafty individual could really mess up this market.
I'm glad you are getting your money back man. I'm not sure if you already listed the sellers name but it would be nice to know who it is. Or at least what Ebay store they're peddling crap from. I don't believe ethics should prevent their being named in this circumstance.
 
Nice ! Seller was “ happysg- 80 “ . Buyer beware , technology exist with computers and laser or CNc machines to recreate , dishonest people will take advantage of trusting people !
 
I am getting bad vibe when it comes to this one. Correct me if I am wrong. One side has scuffs, scratches. The other looks almost untouched by time. Two deep marks between Raven and "R" are just pure miracle that they missed letter "R" and body of Raven. I might be wrong but, I think the etching was done after those deep scratches happened(etching process made even deeper and wider).

Hey all,
New to the forum. I have a TT FlintEdge half hatchet that is marked American Axe and Tool and Black Raven on the opposing side. It has build up on it and took some work to uncover the etching. It is hung in the original haft. I didnt think anything like this existed. I paid $25 for it, not knowing what etchings were on it. Has anyone seen another like ive described. Havent set up my image posting tools yet, so i cant share any images yet. Thanks in advance.
