Greetings and salutations to all! Here’s a new compact version of my Black River Hunter for your consideration, named after my favorite place on earth in eastern Arizona.

Steel is 1/8” x 1 3/8” in 80CRV2 with professional HT at 60/61. Hand sanded to 1200 grit for a fine satin finish. The edge was around .010” before sharpening, it balances behind the front pin and the swedge flares at the tip for extra strength.

Dimensions: 8 3/4” OAL, Tip to Scales 4 1/2”

A spectacular pair of light Ironwood scales are sculpted for a very comfortable fit and have turquoise G10 liners. It’s sanded to 1200 grit with 5/32” copper pins (center one is homemade mosaic) and 1/4” lanyard tube. Basically an “Arizona” themed knife. The handle feels great in my average sized hand at 4 1/4” but if you have big paws it might not be enough. The sheath is a snug fit yet easy to deploy.

Price is $OLD to your US door, and of course your satisfaction is my only priority. Paypal (G&S Only please), check or MO, and the price includes fees and free shipping in the US.

Thanks so much for looking and please feel free to ask anything here or via PM.

Thanks for the kind words all. Quite a while back a compact version was suggested to me and I thought it was a great idea too. I have one more of these in the pipeline.

Jeepers John! You are making it difficult for me to resist buying another knife from you, but i need to sell another one or two of my own to make it work. I have always thought a smaller version of the Black River Hunter I have would be perfect for my hand size. This one looks great. Between this one and your recent kephart posting, either would be a super knife I would be extremely happy to own. Keep them coming...the stars will line up for me again, no doubt.

Grady,
At age 66 I decided I had enough tactical folders and guns to last the journey and after looking for where my collector self should next land I chose this subforum.
I lurked here (knife maker fixed blade) for a few months in an attempt to develop my eye and my tastes before I started spending coin of the realm.
Your part of that continuing education is appreciated as is your compliment!
Cheers,
Greg

It’s possible to have too many guns…and knives….? J/K. 🤣

Very nice grab and welcome to the forum.

I am truly happy you chose one of my knives for your collection. Thinking about one I made next to a John Cahoon knife is about as good as it gets for me so far on this knife adventure. Hard to get my head through the shop door, so I took the afternoon off. 😍😎
