These are from a new batch of blocks that just came back from being Dyed Black and Stabilized by Knife & Gun in Arizona.
The snakeskin blocks are a Hybrid Sycamore that was cut quarter sawn to show the flecks that give the wood a snakeskin like grain pattern. When this wood is dyed the flecks resist the dye giving the blocks a lot of contrast. Sycamore is very easy to work with and polishes up beautifully.
The other new Black woods are Maple Burl and Figured Maple. Plus there are some more new Hawaiian Mango and Hawaiian Koa blocks in the store.

To go to the store home page use this link.

OR.......to go directly to the new dyed blocks just click on the photo.

Mark,

Ever sell some of these very cool wood in anything but pieces?

I would love a piece of exotic hardwood about 18" X 7" X 3.5" if you have something we could make a deal on? Does nit have to be stabilized, just hard. Quilted maple to koa?
