• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

I ordered 9 feet of 5160 a couple weeks ago to supply my knifemaking habit. I have spent the last couple months trying to teach myself and expand my skill set. I mostly make knives for fun or gifts, although I have sold a few. I saw a knife like this on this forum and I thought I would give it a try. The handle is black walnut, the blade is a quarter inch thick, about 8 inches long, and about 2 inches wide. It is chisel ground for right hand use. I used a sort of "half tang" construction where the spine is exposed on top of the knife, but the bottom was left wooden to shape. Each knife I make seems to get better than the last, so I'll keep working at it.

Thanks for looking,

That thing is a beast! I can't quite tell from the picture but it looks like the tang isn't flush with the back of the handle? That would make it look a bit more finished.

are you talking about the wooden insert? that was intentional. I tried a lot of new things with this knife, and being rather inexperienced I imagine there are many things I could have done to make it look more professionally done. Its flush along the spine and that's what I was going for.
