I had to try something a little different just for fun. I don't usually name my knives.... I just refer to them for there intended function - ex. Hunter, Chopper, Bushcrafter, Camp Knife, ect. I was going to call this one the "Semi-Tactical Kitchen Wharncliffe" or S.T.K.W. for short. My girl-friend said I should call it the "Black Widow". She was right......:o

On to the pics!

Hey Bruce I'm not even a fan of wharnies but that looks great, the handle dimensions look perfect !!!!

Beautiful Wharnie, Bruce! That's it, dang it, I need a money tree! My old one died. Anybody? Bueller? Bueller? lol See, it's driving me crazy.

Hi Bruce, is this a chisel grind ?( 2 views of blade are both mark side) and, does the heavy etching help prevent staining from the "bad" veggies ?
i have a Snody knife(chisel grind), v. similar in profile to this one, and it's a great kitchen knife.
your price understates the quality of your workmanship. the Hunter i got from you is my least expensive, but one of the best when put to use.

Thanks for the comments guys!

Roland, the blade is flat ground on both sides, I will up load a pic of the other side when I get a chance. I haven't used an etched blade on veggies yet, but I'm guessing the lighter areas will stain to a darker colour. I don't think staining will be as noticable since the blade is fairly dark already.

This knife was made as a general utility knife (hence the sheath with a belt loop), but I also thought it would work well in the kitchen.

What are the bad veggies?
Brussel sprouts? :barf:

Thanks Bruce. "bad veggies" ?: potatoes, onions, tomatoes, stain carbon steel almost immediately on contact.

Thanks pitdog - this one just melts into your hand. I didn't use to like wharnies...then I tried one. They are excellent for cutting carboard, leather, cooking - any application where you need a lot of power delivered to the tip (great utility knife).

great looking knife is it forged or stock removal?

I wish I could forge flatgrind8. I have a bad elbow - only good for about 3 min of hammering. Stock removal it is!

rwiggins - if you find a money tree....mind sending a graft off it to Canada?:)

Here is a pic of the other side of the blade:
