Well, Bill, I'm going to have to partially agree with you. However, what I think might be the problem is not totally the spacer but rather the use of the non-damascus guard. By tying it all together, the whole composition would come together. Now regarding the spacer. Narrowing it a bit and carving it as is usually seen in a ferrule would work.
Bill I really like what you did on the spine and how it works with the clip. was your black wood stable or not?
