Think you're right Peter. Believe there were also some assembled and sold later, in 2001 or so, out of a cache of parts.

As for "good", that depends on what you're looking for in a knife. Unlined G-10 handles kept the weight down, but clip screws tended to strip out. Handle design made it one of the few Spyderco front locks that was not hand-neutral to operate, since about 1/3 of the relatively small Spyderhole is blocked by the right scale.

Bottom knife is the Aluminum Blackhawk, G-10 version is above it. Two top ones are Renegades, the Blackhawk's big brother. Both knives were built for the "biker" market, the Renegade for the guys, the Blackhawk for the gals.
