Does anyone have any experience with Blackhawk Throwing Hawks? I haven't gotten a good feel for them from what I have read on this forum. I have had them highly recommended by someone, but I don't know how to compare the to Cold Steel Hawks. I am looking for the best low priced hawks for throwing practice.

Thanks,

i have no idea on the Blackhawks, brother nuke'.

i buy lots of Cold Steel hawks for my hawk-handling business, and they are a good deal for the money IMHO.

i'll stick with what works, if the price penalty isn't there.

I have two of them - I imported them from Canada about 12 years ago. One has been heavily used (chopping and throwing) and the other is still mint.

I have no complaints. As throwers they are excellent and mine has stood a lot of abuse. They appear to be castings and are finished a bit rough but after a few years of use it won't make much difference.

Edge holding is ok - not brilliant but good enough for camp use. I am currently in the process of cleaning mine up and have sanded out the dings and casting marks but haven't had time to do much else so far.

The best feature is the way the head is supported by an extended tang (I think you would call it a tang but I woudn't argue about it).
