Okay all of you Blackjack fans (Tom Carey, where are you?!?), a friend emailed me about a Blackjack Panga. I've never heard of one, so I am leaving it up to y'all. Here is the email:

"I have a Blackjack PANGA knife. It is new in the box with original sheath. Do you have any idea what this is worth? I am the original owner and have only handled it a few (20) times in it's time with me. Any info would be appreciated...
Thanks
Wild Bill"

Please email Wild Bill at BILL-ROBINSON@worldnet.att.net with any info. Thanks!

Hmmm...

Blackjack Panga: a single edge machete like knife featuring a 15" blade with a sharpened point. Price new ~$40. Value today would depend on condition of knife, sheath, and box(probably $30-60)

Wasn't the Panga an enlongated kukri or mamba type machete? Not as much curve or swoop to the blade, but there was some. I regret not buying more Blackjacks, but I wasn't into knives "way back when."

The Panga looked something like the indonesian knife. The Blackjack knives that looked like kukries were the Mamba(s), Machaxe, and Becker Knife and Tool Reinhardt kukri.

There was also a another similar large knife produced about the same time as the Panga called the Simba. The Simba shares a similar handle with the Panga but has a 12" bolo blade sharpened on both top and bottom edges (looks a little like a WWII Smachet).

I have a Blackjack Panga. I paid $75 for it new without a box about a year ago. It may or may not be worth that much on the open market but was worth it to me. Very nicely balanced for such a large knife, and the handle is very comfortable. I'd scan it for ya if it'd fit on the scanner

I believe this is the Blackjack Panga. Unfortunately the picture was not good enough for me to read the blade markings.

Maybe someone can confirm that this is the BJ Panga.
