Forged from at least 100 yr. old plow in charcoal forge
Drawfiled and quenched in salt water
16" overall- 10" cutting edge
Handle is Oak, scorched, scrapped and waxed
Poured Bolster and Cap
Sheath is veg-tanned w/ brain tanned cuff and some decorations
Twisted Fringe Welt
Finished with dirt, grease and varnish

This sheath and knife is what I really like to do. I see it as made by a Blacksmith in 1850 and it and it’s sheath have evolved over a lifetime of use. Repairs made with what was on hand. A little beading ’cause the Blacksmith traded with the friendly “Injuns” and years of grease and grime because nothing useful was thrown away, just made into something else……Randy
