Going next Saturday with a small group.

She put on a 2 day demo at our Blacksmith club (Balcones Forge) the year before last. If you think the book is something, you ought to be right next to her for a couple of days, It's unreal. She's a damn good blacksmith and put most all of us to shame with her demo's. We have another female blacksmith demoing for us at the end of the month, Dorothy Steigler. She started demoing for ABANA back in the early 80's, knows her stuff. Before that we had Uri Hoffi. Our club brings in really good talent for the annual demos. I guess I like blacksmithing about as much as bladesmithing, there's a place for both.

Just ordered my copy of her book. Looks really interesting. It got very good reviews on Amazon.com

 Its one of the best how-to books of any kind I have ever seen. Im sure youll enjoy it.

I emailed her about whether she'd take a personal check. In the response she said "thanks for buying from me direct."

Anyone else planning on getting one, consider ordering it from her instead of a retailer.

I also sent a link to this thread.

darnit. just when im about to spend the rest of what i had saved up on needed supplies i start wanting her book. guess ill just have to get a job that much sooner. it will be hard having a job, driving 50 miles one way to help mom out and work on my knives. let me know how good the book is fitzo.

......... let me know how good the book is fitzo.

Shucks, here I am fresh out of Post It notes, so I can't leave myself a reminder. :( Tell ya what, you remember to ask me in a month or so and I'll be happy to give you my opinion. How's that? :)

sounds like you are a sloooooooooow reader. :D:D:jerkit:

I read about a book every other day, sonny. I've got a backlog.

Perhaps you ought to do a little more reading and a little less flapping your lips.

HEHEHEHE!!!!! id rather work ouside in my shop but its raining and my shop is strictly outdoors with no cover over it. i was hoping to get a little shop time in before i left to goto moms to help her out.

hey fitzo, what kind of books do you read?

Mostly non-fiction nowadays. Sci-fi when I do read fiction.

Sitting in front of me is "Ideas That Changed the World" by Felipe Fernandez-Armesto, a historian. A pretty good book given to me by my sister for Christmas. Inspires a lot of followup digging around the 'net.

Across the room in the "next" stack is a book about the construction of a shakuhachi Japanese flute, a book on home shop lathe from a classic series, an exercise physio book on the upper spine/shoulder/neck area, Flayderman's "The Bowie Knife", a book about creativity by Julia Cameron called "The Artist's Way", and Brian Greene's "The Elegant Universe" about superstring theory in physics.

I am a reader, always have been from earliest childhood. I'm interested in most everything.
