African Blackwood "Chairman" - (Thanks for the name, K.J.!)
One of my favorite knives to make!
5160 forged blade with convex grind.
Stainless fittings used in Take-down tradition.
Lovely piece of Stabilized African Blackwood.
5 1/2" blade, 10 1/4" overall.
Thanks for letting me share!

I wanted to add the sheath photo and the take-down assembly

Another nice piece Karl.
I really like your bluing. You really do a superb finish.
But I just haven't had any luck with it holding up.
Especially with guns.
You ever have any trouble with yours?

The most frequent area of wear on guns, knives, etc., is on sharp, leading edges like the barrel face, front edge of cylinders, edge of guard, etc.
Notice on my knives how I dramatically round over the outside edge of my guard. I only leave about 3/32" of the face flat, right at the blade.
I do this for four reasons:
1.) I do NOT like squared off flat faced guards on working-sized knives. I'll admit it makes a nice "canvas" for inlays, engraving, etc., but I just don't like 'em.
2.) This rounded over profile actually acts like a "guide" when the knife is placed into its sheath - there is no leading sharp edge to catch on the sheath.
3.) Since I do a LOT of hot-bluing on my guards, this rounded over area does not lead to any excessive wear.
and 4.) I make a choil area for choking up with the forefinger on my working knives, and this smooth rounded over edge facilitates that grip without an uncomfortable edge.
I did this one in stainless 'cause I do like contrast in my guards/handles.

I agree as to your point regarding the sharp edges and ware.

When I examined your knives at Blade I was very impressed with the flawless mirror-like blued finish. I was especially looking for defects there.

I'm quite partial to Blackwood as a handle material. I have not handled one of your knives but I always thought that choking up on the choil with your finger was possible.
