Well I toured the Blackwood Knives World Headquarters (somewhere in South Lakeland,FL) over the holidays and have been meaning to write this for a couple of weeks now.
I bought a used small tac on these forums and wanted Blackwood himself to bring it back to tip top shape. So on a visit to may parent's house in Central Florida my dad and I decided to take a trip to Blackwood World Headquarters.
Like Neil (Dr. Lathe) says he does do the most with his little corner of the garage his wife and kids let him have to craft his wonderful knives. He showed my dad and me everything from start to finish about how he turns out those killer blades.
I left my small tac with him (he only asked for money for shipping it back to me) and it arrived last week looking new. The edge is shaving sharp. He buffed out spots on the blade (unexpected). He reconditioned the scales (unexpected). And he reconfigured my sheath for horizontal cross draw carry.
Now... Dr. Lathe is in the process of producing three matching medium hunters for my dad, brother and me. We all can't wait to see them and know they will be top notch. Thanks again Neil.
