Recently, I got a LiteWave from Neil Blackwood and a Lil Rank from Ray Kirk (Raker). These are quality knives and Neil and Ray are great guys. I was never much into neckknives, but I am now. Take a look at their knives. You will be impressed.

Can't comment on Blackwood as I don't have one of his. But Ray Kirk's Lil Rank ranks right up there. Mine is a razor sharp clip made of D2. Interesting that Ray took the time to taper the tang. I guess that's why there is a nice balance to it even for a small knife.

Sing, my Lil Rank has 52100 steel. Scary sharp. I wasn't really taking a gamble on either of these knives since I already had a knife from both of these guys. I got a small hunter from Neil last year and a Damascus hunter from Ray.

Thanks BIG TEX!! Well this would be the perfect time to post a pic of a LiteWave with G10 handles, but.........my graphics guy is having scanning problems so I have NO NEW PICTURES until monday

Neil, you will have to do the posting since I don't have a camera or a scanner. The G10 handles are nice. One of these days, I will use some of my knife money for a camera. LOL

Couldn't agree more about the work of Ray Kirk. I now own four of his knives: Damascus Tanto, Original Lil Blue with Micarta Scales, Lil Blue II in Damascus, and Lil Rank in Damascus. All of Ray's knives are very well made and extremely sharp. If there's a nicer maker out there, I don't know who he is.

I also had the pleasure of speaking on the phone with Neil Blackwood recently. Now if he'd only remember to send me what we talked about, I might be able to contribute more intelligently to this discussion.

I have a raker 'lil blue2'. I got it mainly on the recommendation of Blues. Ray is indeed an extremely nice person, and a super maker. This knife is very well made and is very sharp. Prices are more than fair.

Neil Blackwood makes a very nice knife. I dont own one...yet, but I have had the chance to handle one.

BT,

Actually, Blues inspired Ray Kirk to make the Lil Blue if I remember correctly.

Aw shucks, fellas, Ray's the guy that deserves ALL the credit. The Lil Blue and Lil Blue II are totally Ray's designs. If I ever contributed anything it was by accident during our in person and telephonic conversations about knives, especially neck knives.

I'm just honored that he chose the name he did for a knife that pulls more than its own weight when called upon to perform.

I just got back from Tannehill and to top off an already great week-end, this thread is the icing on the cake.
I really appeciate all of your opinions and it makes me feel very good that I have been able to make you happy. Without your opinions, is like, no one to cheer you on. Take care and God Bless You all.

Well, finally, after a week I'd rather forget, a bit of good fortune came my way today.

Neil Blackwood was kind enough to send me a "user" version of his LiteWave neck/iwb knife in D2. This knife, according to Neil, had been well used and was not representative of a newer knife in prime condition.

Well, I have to tell you that the knife was nearly pristine, the edge razor sharp, and the grip extremely comfortable and secure, even in the skeletonized version. This knife will perform!

The unique design/shape of this knife was enough to catch my eye and interest after first hearing about it from knifemaker Chris Hatin, and later getting very positive feedback about it from friends and fellow forumites "Lewis" and "Big Tex" whose perspectives I have come to respect.

I liked the knife enough that I contacted Neil and asked if he would be willing to sell me this "demo" which he was going to retire. He was kind enough to say yes at a fair price.

I now can say I have added another unique piece to my burgeoning collection of neck knives.

By all means, I recommend checking out Neil and his knives.

Now, Neil, about that tanto.....
