There must be a Mammoth boneyard in Don's backyard. He really selects the best, and Coop sure knows how to bring out the highlights.

I also have a knife (on hold) in that set. I hope to pick it up in about 10 days. I'll post the pic when I have the knife in my grubby little hands.

Hi folks,

Geez, I get all the credit when the MAKERS do all the hard work....! (What's wrong with that...??! :p ;) )

Thank you.

There were a number of very complicated and unorthodox photos that took me extra time.

This shot of Greg Lightfoot's replaceable hatchet was a second go-around before it looked 'right'.

Tim Hancock's really dark buttcap needed more than my mirror as a fill-in light. Also look REALLY close at the fine damascus weave. (expand the photo) I made sure my closeup showed that for him.

PhilL, Jon L. Jensen wanted me to show his two knives in the display plaque, with them in the mirror position and how they fit in in the opposed position. That's part of this set's schtick. (Notice the little interlocking cones.) I chose to add a few insets to break it up. For what I was asked I was very pleased with the format. Yes, it's a bit confusing, and they are long knives with a big display plaque taking up real estate in the image.

Joe Szilaski drops off this set that takes up a closet and wants a montage.... OK, I like a challenge. I figgered out how to show the set clearly AND how to include an inset or two. That one took a while, and I really had to preplan my layout.

Lastly, I lied. I said I wouldn't single out a maker for their work (Above, I just described mine). I'm going to now:

Lloyd Hale created this simply unwordly piece. They call it 'Kubla Khan'. Rich Slaughter has a series of exploded handle fitment shots of it's construction, and it's simply mind-boggling. (maybe he will post them somewhere...) Sure it's over the top. WAYYYY over the top! :D

Coop,

Thanks for the pics. I think I'm particularly impressed by Ken Steigerwalt's pieces, and again by Nick's large ivory bowie (although upon reflection I think the guard could have been a tad bigger).

I have to say I wish Fototime allowed "Open in a new tab" right-clicking. It's a bit cumbersome to have to go back and forth...

Great looking knives and hawks. Your shots with more than one image are excellent. The John White mammoth is really outstanding and was not captured in the photo, the knife won best fighter at Little Rock and that photo also failed to capture the beauty of the knife. Your work is truely outstanding. Thanks for posting the pictures, I enjoy your posts and photos.

I'm glad I'm using a keyboard. . . .because I'm speechless. :)

Using a scale of 1 to 10. . . . .Coop, your talent easily touches 20. ;)

Thanks Joss. Ken's work was upper-tier.

Joss, on the left in Fototime, you can view the images any size you want. You can scroll at 900-pixels-wide in original mode. Is this what you wanted? It defaults to a medium compressed format.

Thanks again, guys!

Coop, WOW!! There are so many phenomenal knives there!! WOW!! Some really knocked my socks off! Thanks for sharing your amazing pix!!!

Coop,

Have you ever checked out Blurb? One can supposedly create professional type glossy books, relatively cheap.

IMO, It's perfect for a photo collection of knives etc.

NV: Yes, I heard of them and I was excited when a guy on another foum wanted to use them for his photographic portfolio. When he got it, he claimed it was SO poorly printed that it made him look bad. Probably good for text. I dunno. Any other's feedback? Until I hear otherwise I am not taking that chance.

Keith: That's an older piece from a collector right here. Sigh......

Gus, great acquisitions in the hawk and the Hanson folder. That ivory is out of this world as was the other ivory folder Don sold.

The beautiful Hancock also belongs to one of our fortunate members here.
