Blade 2013 including CKCA dinner

Thank you for posting these great photos, that give a little of the flavor of Blade 2913, and some fine photos of great work. Blade is enormous in depth and breadth.

I was unable to attend this Blade this year, and I truly appreciate your work in providing a sample.

Murray , An exceptional review as always. Hope you and Phyllis are on the mend and back to normal real soon.

Murray, It is always a pleasure to chat with you. I could not get around to see as much as you did. Thanks for bringing the rest of the show to us.

This man is a collector's favorite. Michael O'Machearley creates a lot of distinctive fare for his clients.

Phil Booth attends many shows and it is always nice to visit with him and to see the new and interesting knives he creates
orig.jpg

This year Phil is thrilled to tell folks that his son, who has a Masters in music has just released his first CD.

Always a facorite and one whose knives, when gracing the tableau of the forums, generate lots of interest, Rodrigo Sfreddo

offered some very nice knives

including Spring, which I particularly enjoyed viewing and handling

plus Autumn and a nice integral bowie done in a more traditional way

Steve Rapp always has a smile on his face and it is no wonder when a maker has such ability to create so many masterpieces as he has done over the years.

Here are a few more from this fine knifemaker.

Here is a maker, Todd Miller, very prolific with a style all of his own that creates knives one can spend lots of time viewing and handling

Before I finish with this 2013 Blade show submission, please go to the following link
http://www.americanbladesmith.com/i...s&subsection=show_events_details&events_id=44
and read the whole topic so you will understand about the knives of the ABS auction. Particularly read closely the story relating to Jerry Lairson and his folder and also to the Phoenix about which more will come in future weeks.

I have known of Jerry Lairson
orig.jpg

for many years and in 2008 at the AG Russell knife show, we purchased one of my favorites knives
orig.jpg

Jerry does not keep to any one genre but always has interesting knives available for past and future customers
including this time some hunters
orig.jpg

fighters
orig.jpg

and a dagger
orig.jpg

Of course, the prime piece that Jerry had to offer and shown here speaking to those at the ABS auction
orig.jpg

is his FIRST folder and the knife that went for the highest amount of dollars at the auction. I'm sure Jerry and the ABS are very proud of his accomplishments in this regard.

Going on for lunch on an overcast Wednesday but maybe the pool will still be inviting now that I have finally be able to complete this task. Glad all had a great time at Blade 2013 and hopefully we will have a chance to visit at a future show. Enjoy these photos and sorry I was not able to be more current as in the past but "better late than never".

Thanks Murray, that is a lot of work.

Murray,

It is always a pleasure to talk with you and Phyllis. It's like old home week at Blade.

Thanks from me and all us here for your show reprise. Lots of work, I know, but worth it to us all.

John
