Blade 2016 randoms

Nice pictures Lorien. It was good seeing you again. We had a good time Friday night. Thanks for sharing your photos and your time.

Congratulations to you, Logan! Good job.

John, it was great to sit down with you for a bit and get a chance to chat. It's tough at the table to keep a conversation flowing, and you and I have a lot we can talk about. Let's make sure we get a meal in next time we meet.

I've completed adding the captions to all the photos. Thanks for checking it out, hope you enjoyed it.

Lorien, thank you for the review on Kyle's knives. If I'd have known how you felt I'd have made something happen.

Lorien,
Enjoyed the photos and prose. Well done. Thanks, Dozier
I know Mr. Carothers makes a fine knife, but who is this "Granola" ?

Sorry that we did not get time to chat, I saw you once in passing

I was going to tackle you, but I wasn't sure it was you until just after you passed by- it's been 5 years I guess. Next time, for sure!

Nice variety of pictures and mix of reverence and irreverence in the captions. Informative and enjoyable. I look forward to hearing more about your new project(s) and to snagging one of your lightweight choppers from Nathan if I'm ever fast enough.

Thanks for the good words, Bob!

Great review Lorien - glad you had a blast - not that it was ever in doubt!

Ryan Hayes, on the left, is the CKCA's new Grand Poobah and all around Friendly Giant. I'm not sure who that other dude is, but he was hanging out at the Diskin USA booth, so he's probably a pretty rad dude.

Lorien,

It was a pleasure meeting you as well.

PS. the guy in the middle is Yoni, Sam's friend and translator, and yes he is a pretty rad dude.

Till next year.

Ryan Hays

aha! Ryan Hays=pig_sticker- glad to put 2 and 2 twogether, finally. I catch on, sometimes not so quick, lol.

Thanks for filling in the Yoni blank, I'll go back and edit his name into thar.

Hmmm, what do have we here???
Looks like a tapered tang, cf scale, brass bolster, EDC type thang!

Close! I'll be putting together a WiP on this one within a week or so.

I appreciate your interest :)

It was great to meet you at the show, Lorien.

Glad to see you got to meet Brian Moreland, too. He has done some CAD work for me, and my loverly bride ordered up one of the JB Knife and Tool friction folders for my birthday. We had some tasty burgers at Grub with Brian and his business partner John Stubbs one evening and had a blast.

This dude, Brian Moreland of JB Knife & Tool, exemplified the approach a table holder should take at a show. I didn't know him previously, but he made eye contact and produced a big smile, welcoming folks to his table. I saw a lot of guys lollygaggin around, waiting for people to buy stuff, but this guy was proactive and made an impression. I have his business card of course, because he took the time to make sure I had one. Actually, I have two, since he made sure to give me another one the next time I walked past his table, where he recognized me and called me over. I have a feeling that they're going to do well in this business, they sure did well at the show, selling almost all their knives.

These are by JB Knife & Tool. Price point, handmade knives with some of the best finished edge bevels I've seen. I like a polished edge, and these little suckers were gleaming. I know that a toothy edge cuts more aggressively with some materials, but I'll take the durability of a polished edge any day over something that might cut a little better at first but that soon loses its bite.
