hey guys is it just me or are you guys like this too? every time i buy a knife no matter how much i love it within a week (or less) i'm looking for another knife to buy. is this just me? just asking.

I have to restrain myself.
I try and use a knife for a while until it looks worn and used.
Then, when it is "beat up", it's almost like its personalized. I feel like its "mine" then.
After that, its hard to change.

I recently look at all my transactions on a particular website I buy all my stuff from, and the total cost was 2700 dollars in the passed 9 months. It's been a good 2 weeks and I haven't bought anything, but I still try to make up excuses to do so.

I don't have any other hobbies, so I guess this can be justified, but really... its a waste of money (this is what I tell myself :p)

There are far worse things to be addicted to than knife collecting. Knives are also a durable good and can easily be sold if you need to raise money for some reason.

Usually I can control myself from buying a new knife so often if I stop searching these forums. :D

Like nearly all hobbies a bit of applied moderation can go a long ways especially for the sake of your sanity. Also I've found the longer that I water to acquire a new knife more excitement tends to build up resulting in what I feel to be a greater sense of satisfaction. All in all I still spend way to much on knives and am by all means an addict (and as odd ad it sounds I'm fine with that).I still feel that Hobbies are a great expenditure of time and overall help me enjoy life a bit more but I can at times overdo it and waste a great deal of money in a sort amount of time, if I let myself.

Hi, my name is Julian and I'm a knifeaholic. AA says addiction is continuing to drink/use when you know you have a problem. I have a problem with knives. And I always want more.. But I only hurt my financial status at least.. And my social status when I have a tea party and cut the biscuits with a machete...

I join the addiction group. I try to modify the financial impact by searching Ebay and flea markets for good buys. My current passion is all things CASE.

I'm going home on leave in two weeks, and though I've lost count of how many new knives are waiting for me, I know it's at least 20, and I've only been gone about 4 months.

I enjoy my hobby, especially if a new knife comes in, but I have come to the realization that I can also get great enjoyment out of just using the ones I got, and learn to do new things with them, such as sharpening better, how to handle the knife better for tasks around the campsite, adding a patina, playinng around with changing a handle, modifying an old butcher knife, etc...I guess by all this I am saying that maybe I am still satisfying my knife ADDiction (get it, add to your collection?) while discovering new things about what I have already....which hopefully will keep me from buying a new one sometime soon. I am endeavoring to expand my enjoyment of knives before I will lay down more bucks....even if it is hard to say no, or at least maybe say wait.

Hi My Name's Jon and I'm Knifeaholic :D
Going Knife cold turkey at the moment :D

(Couldn't resist posting this again)

It starts with a CRKT and progresses to Cold Steel.

That Benchmade really starts eating at your soul soon after

Next thing you just have to get that Zero Tolerance or Emerson
When you start selling your old knives to get that Microtech or CRK you know you hooked

Is there a KNA (Knife Nuts Anonymous) section? I really need some help :D

I can give you one helpful tip: Buying multiple knives will extend the time between purchases.. for a while anyway. You also save on shipping! ;)

I look at my knife addiction as a growth process. I buy specific knives to feed that purpose. When I've handled and used them,
I often learn something new about knives which I didn't before. Because of this, I come closer to my goal of owning only the knives which I "need",
but which I then will feel confident are the very best for me (price, use, quality etc.).

I'm buying and selling as a learning experience. Often, I have a knife for one week and ready for it to go. I'm learning a lot, but it's a bit expensive, as I take a small hit on each sale. I don't sell for a profit; I'm willing to lose $30 per knife and chalk it up to experience. It looks like I keep on getting more expensive knives. Yikes!
