Blade and Grind on Sebenza 21 vs 31

I just received my 31 and noticed right away that the blade and grind is noticeably different from the 21 i had.

the 31’s hollow grind is not as smooth as the 21 and has, and sorry for lack of terminology, lines milled in the hollow grind. Similar to mnandis I’ve seen. Whereas my 21 didn’t have these grind lines and had a smoother stonewashed finish.

also, i notice the top of the 31 blade is not chamfered on the edges and are sharp corners compared to the smooth rounded tops of the 21.

does anyone know if this was one of the changes of the 31?

As far as blade finish goes there is a stonewashed finish and a polished finish. The wood inlays get polished blades and most PJ and micarta get stonewashed unless otherwise stated on birth card. Polished on top full stonewashed on bottom. Both are L21s75246617-23B8-42BA-8265-353D2C537789.jpeg

yeah, i prefer the stonewashed finish especially as it gets used. Perhaps the polish finish for inlays makes the Instagram pics more dazzling but may show scratches more easily if it becomes a user. Still miss the rounded top edge though, but still a great blade overall

31s should have no different blades from the 21. You have a polished blade since it has wood handles. The rounded spine is a hallmark feature, they haven't removed or changed it between the 21 or 31.
 
I like the stone washed finish,hard to beat and they look better with age! and I think the 21s are old school and I sort of like them better with use, part of CRKs heritage is my thought here.

They both have rounded spines on the top of the blade. My 31 has the round spine on top but where it meets the side of the blade, it’s a sharp corner. My 21 was more rounded. Seems to be a slight difference. At least between my 21 PJ and my 31 inlay.

I used to have a PJ Regular that had polished flats and kind of a brushed finish on the hollow grind. I thought it was really beautiful.
