What a piss poor excuse for an auction site. I placed a bid which was more than $200.00 More than the eventual winning bid. When I placed the bid, the bid screen information had my top bid right, and said the bid was accepted. Then, I was only given credit for an increase of $5.00. What the Hell?!
If you use this auction service, cross your fingers. Sometimes it works in an unacceptable fashion, and other times it doesn't work at all.

I'm not a stupid person, but I can do some really stupid things. This is a good example. The next time my BS meter is in the red, I'll back off.

Are you talking about the bladeauction that Josh@pvk owns? If so, i personally have never had any problems, other that some of the sellers want too much for their knives. Never been burned and managed to get a few really good deals on some knives.

Yeah, that's the one. I followed the rules for posting a bid, and got a confirmation screen. Then I got $@#&ed. That left me seriously underwhelmed.

Sorry to hear that. I know you'd probably like to tell him to eat s$%^ but I'd shoot Josh an e-mail w/ your beef. He is not the quickest to respond to e-mail but he will try to make it right, or at least make it so it does not happen to the next guy.

When you bid on bladeauction, your bid is only increased to outbid
the highest bidder. Then the autobid function takes over.

I have had no problems with bladeauction.

CRfan, please read the rules and what fossilhunter says. It is there for your own protection (so you do not spend too much)....

Example: Highest bid so far 100.00 USD, you are willing to pay 200.00 USD (so you bid 200.00). The bid increases to only 105.00. If the other person does not want to bid anymore, you pay 105.00 (not 200.00). If he bids 120.00 the system (instead of you) outbids him to 125.00....etc, etc... And if he gaves up before reaching 200.00 you win with the closing amount (which might be considerably less than 200.00).

I'm not certain I understand him correctly, but CRfan seems to be saying the software did not function as it's supposed to, and a lower bid than his won the auction.

Or maybe he only thought there was something wrong and canceled his bid? I'm not sure what happened....

Blade Auction is not a very user friendly site. As an occasion seller, it's a pain in the butt and it's pretty unorganize. Who am I kidding, it's a good place to auction off knives but don't expect to run as smooth as E-Bay etc.
