I never even think about blade centering. As long as the blades sharp, has no play, and good walk and talk for a slipjoint I'm happy.

Blade centering anxiety when a new folder arrives!

I pretty much check everything BUT centering first. I'm way, way more concerned about function than form.
My top concerns upon pening:
- Making sure the blade wasn't sharpened to death at the factory, no unintentional recurve, etc. I want as much steel preserved on that blade as possible. That's why I always order two of things so I can compare. (I've gotten identical knives with blades that were almost 1/4 inch different in length/girth)
- Lockup. I want to see that the knife locks up solid, and at least before 60%. As long as those parameters are met I'm fine. If it's past 60% but great in every other way, I'll look past it.
- Blade play. I can't stand blade play. I can get past a little bit if the knife is superb in every other way, but a lot of play that I can't adjust out and I can't take it.
Keep in mind, this is 200-400 dollar knives I'm talking about. I don't expect a 50 dollar knife to be perfect.

Who cares?
I have a lot of nice folders and I couldn't tell you if any of them are centered or not. It does not matter to me at all.

Don't ever buy a case sodbuster! It bugs me, but I still love the knife! All my benchmades have been dead nutz!

Yeah! Don't buy this knife, because the blade isn't centered this means it's not a good inexpensive working knife, it won't take a razor edge, and it won't slice like crazy 😁
