Blade Coating... In Colors?

Has this ever been done before, on a production scale where the typical black teflon (or something similar) coating on blades was simply TOO tactical and aggressive? I would welcome the ability to get a knife with an ATS-34 blade covered in green or blue. If that is simply too weird (pink Spydercos anyone?) then why not a coating that is metal colored? You know, to attack blade rust on marine environments while looking more utilitarian then tactical. Just a thought, if Benchmade started this out you just know it would catch on like wild fire. What do you think?

James Brothers did a short run of Cheyanne's with rainbow-colored blades. You could also go the way of Hawg Knives( http://www.hawgknives.com ) and cover the blade with anodized Ti. Nobody will ever accuse them of being non-agressive though.

Don't forget to pay your taxes...they eventually become my knives:)

Benchmade made the Mamba 7-L with both black and gold colored titanium nitrate coatings. I believe Buck has knives with Buckcote in gold which I believe is also titanium nitrate or a close cousin thereof.

yup. Last I checked, Buck has grey and champagne BuckCote for their knives. Those are the only colors I have "seen".

Personal pref?? I would like to see a clear coat and/or a "blued" finish.

On a G.I's point of view, making the knife blade camouflaged (i.e. woodland, olive drab, desert)to match the handle would be pretty cool.

Then again, I need to start saving some more money......

I have never heard of that Benchmade, the one with the gold blade...

Mercury, the 7-L was a downsized version of the original Mamba. They made uncoated and with the black and gold. I've got one each of the black and gold.

Thats the thing, I have never heard of the Mamba in any context. Is there a website out there that has pictures of ALL of the folders Benchmade has ever produced, you would think the BM site would have it but their site kind of blows... They never even update it but for every few months.
