blade coatings

any coating will scuff/scratch with use, i have 2 with DLC which is as good as any, i have used both some (some, not hard)and both are scuffed FWIW.

my only experience was with a BM Grip form cabela's. Black coated blade. I hardly used it, but i did cut an aluminum can with it (blah blah abuse blah blah) and the coating scratched. Now IIRC it had been called a DLC coating (i might be wrong, correct me if i am), and in my opinion, a DIAMOND like coating, should be able to withstand a scratch form an aluminum can.

That is just Benchmades Teflon stuff.

I don't like that coating, though no doubt it does perform its intended function well.

I have a Microtech Mini UMS which is coated black but not sure if it's boron carbide.
I used it as my EDC for some time at work cutting boxes, plastic bands. etc. The
coating wore down a bit where it's noticeable especially near the tip. Not too bad though.

I have a Kershaw Leek black/gold. I think this coating is more durable as it has a slick
texture. Seems like it wouldn't scrape off as early. But to be fair I have not used it
very heavily at all.
