Blade cracked during grinding?

Edward Braun is known as Alef Forge.

Nitro V in general warps like no other. Reason enough for me not to use it. I'll stick with Z-finit.

Matthew Gregory Matthew Gregory if you have the heat number I'm positive they can/could trace it. Whether they associate heat numbers with sales orders for purchases like we tend to make would be another story, but entirely probable.

Yup.

As a rule, I try not to say stuff like this unless I've already asked. ;)

Still, nothing is infallible, but I think it's a good idea to try to minimize the chances of mixup, or perhaps aid yourself in troubleshooting, shood the need arise.

While I am not an expert by any stretch, I have worked a handful of blades from Nitro-V so far and heat treated them here at the home forge without issue, warp, or crack. Maybe different methods being used by some that have experienced such issues?

Shaped like a quench crack .
All the HT should be a straight forward process without fooling around .If I add up all your comments I see a bunch different problem situations ! After HT straightening should only be done at least 400F . Do the whole blade not parts of it.
Minimize warping by first giving it a stress relieve 1200F sub critical anneal. Straighten then if necessary ,then proceed to HT. Always temper immediately ,don't wait !
  :(
