I haven't posted here in a while but I'm having a problem with my Kizer Begleiter. The blade came pretty close to center. But after opening and closing it a couple of times it drifted way off center to one side pretty close to the liner. As I opened and closed it more it drifted all the way over to the other side. The pivot is tight. No side to side play. And all screws are tight. I have never had a folder do this before and i can't figure out why it is doing this. Any advice on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried disassembling the knife and reassembling it? (WARNING: disassembly will likely void Kizer warranty)

Strange indeed! Something has to be shifting around somehow.

Yep. I just can't figure out what is. I may have to take it apart. And I just read that will void the warranty. I hate sending knives back. This may be a DIY project.

Well, if it's going from side to side with all screws tight, it may be a serious factory defect. I'd use the warranty.

Yeah... I might have just accidentally taken the knife apart :)

It looks like it may be one of the Teflon washers. It has two. A small one on the lock side and a large one on the other. Very thin. Like plastic wrap thin. The large one isn't round. It is oblong shaped. Even the hole. I could be wrong but I believe it should be round.

ETA: And just to clarify... it has two phosphor bronze washers too. They look good to go.

Is that model on washers? Only other possibility I can think of is a deformed washer.

FWIW my Spydiechef seems to be slightly drifting towards the lock side, maybe a mm or so since I got it, but I haven't touched the pivot and it locks up tight. I'll chalk it up to a minor imperfection, because the thing flicks like a dream so I'm happy.

The Spydiechef is a cool looking knife. I'm glad it performs well for you. The Begleiter flicks open fine. So I'll just use it and enjoy it. I appreciate it.

I’d be interested to know what’s up with that &/or where it goes with time. I’ve had a few nicer Spydies a bit off center. It drives me bonkers even though it’s essentially cosmetic.

An off center blade is a peeve of mine too. I know it doesn't hurt the performance but it really bugs me to pay hard earned money for something and it not be made right. I know some of it is human error when it was assembled. But sometimes it's just loose tolerances or defective parts.

Drives me BONKERS too . I was thinking a deformed washer as I was reading through the thread (smart huh?) but I see now, you have it all resolved. Buying a washer on line will cost you more for shipping than the actual piece.

"I might have accidentally taken the knife apart":D - You made me laugh.
