Just wanting to know what you cover your sharpened edges with so people can look at them and not get cut. (plastic tubing ?) do you buy this product that you use and where?
i don't make cases until they say so.

I don't use anything. If they can't examine a knife without cutting themself, they probably shouldn't be handling them to begin with. I usually just say "these are seriously sharp, if you run your thumb down the edge to see how sharp it is, you will get blood all over the knife and ruin it, so please don't."

Some people just can't resist putting the edge to their skin for some reason, and need to get cut in order to learn, IMHO.

You could probably just go to home depot and get some small diameter rubber tubing and slice it lengthwise, if you wanted to....

Dave is right, people will do it regardless of what you do. Just keep some band-aids handy for the folks that will cut themselves. Personally I like the way Butch handled it at the Timonium show in December. He had Sesame Street band-aids at the table. First guy walked up, cut himself, and had to wear Elmo as a badge of honor all day :D

just like dave said i wouldnt worry about it either vern. i warn people that my knives are shaving sharp and if they get cut its their fault. if you're worried just make a person wear
gloves when looking at your knives, at least there wont be fingerprints all over the blade.

You guys are right, but you know there's a nut in every place you look.
the people who sharpen saw blades have a dip they use on the tip. anyone know what thats called. then just tell them not to take off the coating.
the coating won't hurt anything.

I always put a bowl of band aides on my table at the shows. I also tape one to the outside of the paper I rap my knives in for shipment. Most people pick up on the hint. Those that don't, theres a band aide handy for them.:D
