Blade Finish

Here are a few that I have jewled, use rubberized abrasives found at MSC.com. I just use my drill press as well.

I agree with Bruce that jeweling/engine turning can be a bit much for a blade--frankly I think it usually is .....

.... but these look GREAT! :eek: Fantastic combination with the makers' marks and a really neat look for the exotic shape!:thumbup:
 
there is a company here in ohio that makes kitchen knives. every knife made has the "engine turning" finish. a friend of mine has one of their knives and the finish is what caught my eye. the name on it was e warther & sons, dover ohio.
 
I got some good results bolt jeweling with Steve Wagner's jig: CLICK. I imagine the rig could be modified so the knife is held flat on the moving part (maybe tacked through a pin hole). The vertical offset could be kept constant by adding segments of square dowel or other wood of regular thickness between the moving part of the rig and the static one.
