blade finishes

I was looking for some ideas or advice on some different blade finishes. I have some knives that will be convex that have been heat treated so the flats will have forge scale on them, what about the bevel? I want to put out some "black" knives or at least non reflective. Is there a way to put a finish on the bevel or fix a mistake when you accidentaly touch the spine area to the belt and ruin the flats. I know about gun blue as a touch up but what about filling scratches in the flats. Also I had the idea to parkerize some blades but i dont know how to save the finish on the belly and spine when sanding off the extra scale materials. Any thoughts?]

Finish your blade with the final finish before you attach the scales. Also finish the ricasso end of the scales before you attach them.

Match up your scales using pins and superglue to keep them together and put the radius on the tip end. Go all the way to your final finish - buff them if you want then attach them to the knife. You shouldn't have to get the grinding belt close to the finished blade this way.

If the scales are already attached, you could use a scothbrite belt to blend in all blade flaws. I don't think the scotchbrite will do too much damage to your scales but I could be wrong. It sure won't be kind to them. If you don't prefinish the ends of the scales you will find yourself in a never endind cycle of fixing the scales then the blade, scales, blade, etc.
