Hey Folks,
I have been making a bowie knife for a while now and I haven't decided exactly how I want to finish the knife. I'm stuck between polishing it up real pretty or making it look really rugged. I was wondering about etching the whole blade with ferric chloride or maybe blueing it? Anyways, this area is foreign to me any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Give Casey's Cold Blue, mustard/vinegar/lemon juice patinas a try... they all work pretty well on carbon steels and can be taken off easily if you don't like it.

mustard/vinegar/lemon juice, is this a combination of all or just one of these items, sounds interesting and I've never heard of it. The blade is 440C. How's it done?

Thanks, I've searched through the forum and pretty well figured out some cool finishes to try, just not on this knife. I guess I'll polish it up pretty.
