blade for "safe room"?

If it was me, I guess I would go for anything survival or multipurpose oriented. Whether utilitarian or defensive, it would be wise to go to a multi-role blade. Some examples are...

Anything by Swiss Army Knife / Victorinox
Cold Steel Spetsnatz Shovel
Spetsnatz Spade
Smatchet
Tom Brown Tracker
Cold Steel Bushman

Ad nauseum...

some psychological OPS. loud recording of manical laughter to go with Body part's and blood:D

An small Axe or fighting hatchet...

"Hunters seek what they [WANT].., Seekers hunt what they [NEED]"

A machete is nice but my Cold Steel bad axe(razor sharp)and a cordless drill with a wood bit is better:) :) .........R

What the heck, go for the gusto...
A CHAINSAW!
Not only would it seriously discourage any attacker, you could also use it to get out of the safe-room if you were locked inside.

And don't forget to wear your safety goggles.

But if power-tools are'nt your thing, then a good full-sized ax will do nicely.

Good luck,
Allen.

a tomahawk
an old Enfield bayonet
an old Case bowie
a Rittersteel(I think) Chinese broadsword
an 18.5" HI khukuri
a 60lb Lab/Shar-pei mix
a Dobie/Shep mix(my wife's dog R.I.P)
a Ruger p-90 .45
a Taurus .357
a Sig p-230

I no longer have the guns. My wife's bi-polar and it didn't seem like a good idea to have 'em around anymore. I made a couple of friends really happy by selling them on the cheap. So now I listen to how the dogs are barking and grab the khuk or the tomahawk.

That's what I call a safe room. How does the expression go?

'I don't worry about being paranoid - I just worry that I'm not paranoid enough !'

By the way I vote for some kind of cutlass with about an 18inch blade.

Well I would want an M9 bayonet, right on the end of my AR-15. But if it were strictly cutlery, I would like a nice Tomahawk and a multi-tool.
