Does anyone here carry a blade soley for whittling? Something thin, maybe a little SAK or CASE pocket knife along with your regular field knife?

I usually do. I have several that I rotate, they are two blade pens of various shape and size or peanuts.

Medium size old model (made in USA) Schrade 3 blade. I find the different shape blades work well for whittling. Notice I said whittling, not carving, all I manage to do is make shavings. :o

I carry a SAK.

you can convex the edge of a sak and make it a whittler from hell.

Tone, you were right about the "You are gonna get sick" comment. I feel it coming on big time. Sleep is for babies and lambs. Once I put my Superman PJ's on it will be a different story.

Well sorry I was right, but being up over 30 hours will definately weaken your immune system as well as other things.

Soon you will start asking dumn questions like what knife do you whitt......oh damn too late:p

Not anymore, but now you have me wanting to do it again. I used to carry a little three blade Schrade Old Timer that I got when I was 4 or 5, but it disappeared a few years back. I should find something shiny to replace it when I am up at SMKW in a couple weeks.

My Tom krein Woodcarver of course!

Where did you get the SAK teeth ground off? I have one of those and find it would be a thinner yet blade with the teeth ground off, but find the serrated edge inconvient to say the least.

I did one myself and one I sent to a guy on edc.forums. His was mo betta!

Is it really much better than the standart SAK blade ?The convexed one I mean.Mine is a little thinned and works better, but still not a good whittler.Gonna convex it ! :D

I have a special carver that I carry. I don't have any pictures, but I got it at SMKW. Interchangable blades, but for my limited skillset the big blad works best. I can install the blade upside down so that it stores in the handle for easy pocketing. Carbon blade, easy to keep sharp. I've enjoyed it so far.

This is the one I got, there is a deluxe model as well, came with a carrying case and I forget what else the differences were. I bought a small tacklebox to store mine in when not in my pocket.
