HEHEHEHEHE!!! This is to assist you in hollow grinding. You put the spin of the blade on the platen and just draw it across the wheel. Can you see it now????
I do my grinding freehand, but I plan on getting into folders and if I do so I may get one for better control on smaller blades.;) :D

Jantz supply has something similar, although I don't have a clue on which is better. There is no image on thier site, but it is in thier catalog. They offer one for the Square wheel, Bader, and KMG, along with an optional fixture to adjust the grind line height. Looks like a useful gadget!

It's no gadget, I've been using one for about six months. It has a real advantage for controlling precise hollow grinds especially on double edge grind dagger blades. It also gives you the ability to maintain the relationship of the center of the wheel to the blade.

Sounds like a good investment- I'll have to add it to my list!
RSWright, which one do you use?

I have a Bader 3 and have used this with everything from 1/2" dia. wheels to 12" wheels. On the forked attachment I did have to drill and tap some 3/8-16 holes the same as on the other wheel mounting bars on the Bader but other than that it bolts right on.

It is a fixture. Jantz has something also for the Wilton/Square Wheel/Bader/ Burr King/and KMG-1 grinders.

You have to have it or something that essentially does the same thing for a small folder blade IMO. I know some guys that do small blades free hand using an angle iron to hold the blade though, which acts as a bit of a heat sink also to help absorb some of it off the blade. I've done it that way and it works ok but its going to slow you down when you have to flip the blade around. What I've seen is an angle iron with a pivot hole drilled in each end that the blade mounts to and is screwed down on where it sits steady so you can grind it with the flat table below to keep the tip from moving down.

I saw this in a video but can't seem to find the link at the moment. Its out there somewhere though.

I may have to check into one , I made one of these for the flat platen and also one for the contact wheel. Seems to work so far , also working on one with a miter slot in it as well. The work area is 5" x 8"

Probly sweep up that little corner and polished up his grinder just to that picture and make us all feel bad.:D

Here's a pic that Rich sent me.
