Blade HQ Exclusive Manix in M4

I am kind of wondering if it is the same number in the run as the first one. I find it hard to believe that Spyderco would do a run for less than 1200. I don't want one or "need" one, but it is fun to watch all of the hype! I don't really care for black blades, but I did get one of the satin blades. Love the Manix!

The hype is always entertaining but I don't remember an exclusive/sprint of the Manix2 selling out quickly (ever?).

True, not quickly. But the M4 Manix did go faster than the CRUWEAR.

Anyways, alarm set for Tuesday, credit card valid; planning on getting in on this one early. Paid off getting in early on Maxamet PM2.

Is a scale swap more difficult on the Manix2 compared to the PM2? I'm wondering if there are issues with the lanyard tube.
I swapped scales on PM2 for the first time and it went smoothly.

Cool that they're limiting the sale to two per customer. I just want one to actually use, hope I can make that happen Tuesday.

What (local, Mountain time?) time does their Manix2-DLC in M4 sale start on this coming Tuesday?

For those who have been through this scheduled available to purchase thing. Is that something you have to keep trying until you get through, or will it be like any other order - place the order and you are done?

I have a meeting at that time, and can't really spend a lot of time trying.

Or, do I need to call in stupid that day? :D

Thanks.

I assume it will be like any other order. BladeHQ has sure hyped this knife. The satin blade took several weeks to sell out. If this thing sells out in less than a week I’ll be shocked.

They were both relatively the same in difficulty to swap out for me. The booger is that darn lanyard tube. Sometimes it wants to cooperate, sometimes it doesn't!

Thanks. It looks like the tube serves more of a role on the M2 as far as holding on the scales. With the PM2 there's a screw much closer to the rear of the handle. See what I mean? Maybe you need to re-flare the tube on the M2?

I've always used a big plastic zip tie, to pop the scales off any Spyderco lanyard tube. With the knife closed and the butt of the handle pointed towards you, put the zip tie in between the scale and the liner. Slide it back towards you and the lanyard tube. Work the zip tie all the way around the lanyard tube. 80% of the time, this works for me...:D

Sure, except I never bought a knife from BHQ during a frenzy, so not sure what to expect. Hence the question.

I heard that a PM2 sold out in a day. Granted this may not be that situation, I asked because I would like to know what to expect.

I will know soon enough, I guess.

Nobody can tell you for sure.

My speculation: Manix 2 is generally not as popular as PM2; M4 is liked by not as many people as M390; it will not get sold out as quickly as the M4 PM2; It will be sold out in a pace similar to the plain M4 version.

The Manix 2, a CF S90V version I bought back in about 2009 or so is one of the finest EDC knives that I regularly carry. Great ergos, very strong and useful blade shape, routinely carry this, or a PM2 S30V. Both fit in my front pocket with ease. I think the price on the DLC M4 is a very good one. The version I have will be a lifetime keeper because it's that good of a working knife.
