Blade Length Question

I would have preferred they just kept the same blade shape as the model 1 and added a curved bit and hammer poll. A similar shape to a cold steel trail hawk

Comes down to what want to use it for.
I’ve had the winkler combat hammer for a few years now. Hard to believe how much they have gone up since then.
Mainly got it over the winkler camp axe due to combat being slightly heavier and bit larger blade and beefier handle up close to the head.
I like it.
Chops good. Easy to carry. Not gonna break.
I’ve had several axes and hatchets; used to cut down larger trees (door or more across) with an axe for fire wood and exercise; and most now days are junk.
Don’t want to spend as much time sharpening as chopping they’re high. Check out price on a competition wood chopping axe. 😬
My winkler has held up to cutting metal, and busting animal bones that has turned lesser hatchets/axes to junk by either busting chunks out of the blades or deforming the blades.
The larger handle close to head makes it it easy to use for skinning too, I do keep mine hair popping sharp though.
I remember axes people had when I was young could be used for cutting 3/8 chain links, and just need bit of sharpening. Very few today can stand up to such use.
As mentioned by someone little heavy for defensive use.

As comparison the RMJ kestrel feather is light, and fast, but I sold it cause wouldn’t chop wood for diddly compared to the heavier winkler. Would have been great defensive tool though.
