Blade Length?

Hey Folks,

When measuring a knifes blade length, what areas on the knife are actually measured. For example, do you measure from the tip back to the start of ricaso or do you measure all the way back to the guard/bolster area?

I measure from the guard or bolster to the tip.

You always say something like, "x inches tip to bolster, y inches of edge."

Look around the for sale forum and you'll get an idea of how people say it.

I'm glad I asked, I always thought measuring the blades length ended at the start of the ricaso area? Now I'll know to measure back to the guard.
