Blade Lengths

Wouldn't it be in the best interest of the buyer to research before buying? If it's critical to their needs..
Yes, but if you do some research the knife is sold. I live where knife laws are pretty strict and for an edc blade i need to do the reserch.

Becaise the syandard measurement is blade length. Im just saying i can see how overall lebgth could be useful.

Oh I agree also!

The point I have been getting at is that I dont get this indignation

I hate when a knife's length listed by it's blades length.
To me a 3 inch knife is a 3 inch long knife, not a 3 inch long knife blade and should be specified if meant otherwise.
Why should I have to specify oal so there's no confusion ?
After all knives have handles, and the length of a knife is the whole knife.
Why can't people do the logical thing and refer to a knife in it's length as a whole, and specify if they're referring to only blade length ?

when the standard measurement everybody uses, as you noted, is blade length.

99% of us agree.......so let's change it for the other 1%.........no.

Simple, for everything that exists in the world. There's someone who's angry about it.
I like it when both lengths are lists, but if overall isn't i can just add 3 or four inches and have a pretty good idea.

I completely agree. I rarely consider buying a blade under 3.75" anymore, so it's a waste of my time to go looking up knives on Google and then finding out it's a 3" blade. I like to be given the basics to determine if I'm interested, THEN I'll do my Google and check it out and see how badly I want it. But there's no rule saying you have to, so good luck. You don't even have to post pics of used items when selling them. I just disregard ads with no photos all together.

While you guys are at it, maybe start using metric?

Inches and ounces,
Urg....

The USA and others use the Imperial measurements. (inches, pounds, miles, etc) Those of us raised using the Imperial measurements understand them, and can relate to them.
Metrics, I do not and cannot understand.
I know that Kg is roughly half the imperial measurement, but other than that? Nuthin.
If you tell me a blade is 8cm, I cannot picture the size.
I'm quite sure those raised using the Metric System have the same difficulty when dealing with the Imperial Measurements.

yes here in the U.S. because we live here and not in the U.K. or any other E.U. country. I would think at some point the metric system might become the norm here in the U.S.A. Thanks for your comment.
