Blade made for a ZT 0561 etc

I'm guessing it would be possible to have a maker make a new blade if and when the lock bar is wore out. My question is would it be worth it ?

Just send it in to ZT, they'll put in a new lock bar.

ZT won't as it is discontinued.

They just told me I could get screws and a pocket clip from a 0450. That's its due to being discontinued.

My guess is the new blade would cost nearly as much as a second hand 561. You can still find them quite commonly on the secondary market.

With the angle of the bottom of the tang on the 0561 and the amount of titanium surface area making contact with that shallow angle it should be a while before it comes to that. You could send it back to have the lock side replaced. Or you could go over the top and pay good money to have a sweet lock bar insert made for it. A man can dream.

Is yours migrating really bad or does it just worry you? You could heat treat the lock bar contact surface if you want more security. Its wouldnt cost much at all and lost of very high end knives still use this method that do not have inserts. I had that concern at one time but after unbelievable amounts of use play and admiring my ti locks i haven't seen my untreated locks migrate much other than a few old striders but i sold them and i i think it was the lock geometry design issue and i think they corrected it. Zt has great cs so breath a little easier.

I think it would be cheaper to just buy a second 561 or 560 now than to have a maker fashion you a new blade later on.

They said they will not do that to a knife that is discontinued or a special edition.

It's starting to migrate badly.
