I had a chance or two to go to his shop, I didn't know any better and missed out on it. I've driven past it quite a few times traveling from Hagerstown to Frederick. Jay Hendrickson's group have kept up with hammer ins there. A buddy at work is out there all the time. A member here was good friends with Bill, in addition to my buddy at work. Both friends are good acquaintances in their own right, with much respect for each others talents. I've been goading them into writing a book about Bill, the stories about the man are quite funny.
Driving past his house, his shop and the Lime Kiln statue west of Boonsboro, are like the road to Mecca for a knife nut.
As for magazines, I liked Tactical Knives and have met quite a few of the writers for Knife World and Tactical Knives. I preferred the newspaper format of Knife World, not really into the issues I got of Knife Magazine, not bad either. Blade magazine was a lot of pretty pictures to me, and I subscribed for most of the 00's, but I might pick up a copy of the military issue here and then.
