Hey guys. I bought one of the green Manix because of STR's talk of how good and dependable lock backs are. I have to say I just loved the knife (so much so that I bought three more!) I didn't think that I would like a lock back as I always remember them as a kid having loose and sloppy blades and closing on me if I squeezed them too tight. Not so with the Manix!. None of the blades has the slightest hint of blade play either vertical or lateral. The locks are so thick and solid I just love them. It's great to think they might still be in service for my grand kids someday.
Anyway my question is what about blade centering? Are lock backs blades inherently off center? all of the knives have off center blades. It's no where near off center enough to rub or anything but it is very easy to see with the eye. They all seem to be off center the same amount, the only difference is the blade on one knife is off to the other side than the other three. It won't bother me if they don't get worse but I don't know much about lock backs.
I have read STR's description of how to center a blade by slowly bending the blade a little at a time but I have also read that lateral stress causes blade play in lock backs and as I said these knives have no play whatsoever.
I have centered the blades on liner lock knives by adjusting the pivot screw but this did nothing to the Manix blade.
If any one has any info or opinions I would really appreciate it. If the blades stay centered where they are I will have no worries but I don't know how lock backs behave.
Get one of these knives while you can. They just drip with solid quality.
Thanks in advance
