What does everybody here use for blade oil? I'm just wondering. Running to home depot later today.

On my high carbon steel blades I use RustFree if I'm going to store them for a while once they've been cleaned. One drop is enough to cover the side of a big knife so a little goes a long ways. For the pivot on my folding knives I use TUF-GLIDE Micro-Bonding Dry Lube and Protectant, this stuff works great in that it dries and then doesn't attract dirt and dust.

I've been using my gun (FP-10) but am thinking of switching to a food-safe oil instead. I have a lot of olive, bamboo (I know it's grass) and other wood items I have to keep oiled and I use mineral oil. I might start using it on my knives, too, just so that if I ever want to use them to cut food, I am good to go.

I've been using 3 in 1 for the most part but I'm still finding rust spots on the blades in my safe. Time for a change-up.

i do a 50/50 blend of ballistol and mineral oil. why the mix?, my ballistol last longer :)

Because all of my knives will see food in there lifetime I use USP mineral oil, Vaseline, graphite and beeswax (all for different purposes).

if i am not going to use said knife for food prep of any kind i use gun oil. any to all will work, but be careful of clp's the solvents can do nasty things to plastics and painted surfaces, and such on some products. also the less toxic the better i find for knife use. weapons shield is my favorite right now, but i have various brands and all are good for certian things. i also use tuf glide on carbon steel blades. if i was going to cut food i'd go mineral oil, cause i already have some i use on wood cutting boards.

I either use three-in-one or some of my sharpening stone oil. Either one works well. Any kind of oil will due if you are not using your knife for food prep.

I almost never oil my knives. Can't recall the last time I did. On the rare occasion that I do, I might use something light like WD-40 or 3-in-1.

Boeshield T9

+1 to that.

I put a good coat on a few weeks ago and its rode around in my sweaty pocket and everytime I pull it out to use it the blade is covered in water droplets, a quick wipe and back into the swamp pocket.

Boeshield T9 is the only way to go for carbon steels.

I never used to either but it actually keeps you'r blades in better shape and is recommended by some knife companies.
